Under the supervision of Dr. Ezra Susser, independently traveled to Kazakhstan to meet with mental health leaders in two cities, Astana and Almaty, to assess why Kazakhstan has one of the highest suicide rates in the world. Also studied self-reported depression symptoms associated with HIV risk behavior.

Traveled to Rwanda to conduct audio-taped interviews with 14 mental health leaders to qualitatively assess scope of PTSD & other mental health problems, practices & services among the Rwandan people after the genocide. See Publications.
